Eleven Yellows’ Academy teams have been crowned league champions 21-22

A total of eleven Villarreal teams have lifted the league title in the 2021/22 season! The successes of the Yellows Academy model have paid off once again this year. In the current campaign, more than ten yellow teams have been the best in their respective regular seasons.

Cadete A (U16s) have won the Autonomous League title, completing a practically flawless season. Mario Bárcena and Vicent Masià’s boys won 13 of their 18 matches and only lost three in a regular season that ended in the best possible way, winning the title in Paterna against Fundació Valencia CF (0-4) and leaving the first team without options in the last matchday at Miralcamp, when it seemed that the title could have been decided if Cadete A (U16s) had lost against Fundació.

Among the groguets 11-a-side football teams, the Infantil B (U13s) also won the Liga Preferente, impressively. CD Roda competed until the end of the league tournament, but the Miralcamp side won by one point. It is worth noting that the yellow team only lost one of the 26 league matches, a vital milestone for the achievement of the season.

Seven champions in 8-a-side football

All of Villarreal’s 8-a-side A and B teams have won the regular tournament. Alevín A (U12s) won the Liga Preferente with 82 points, 10 points ahead of second-placed Inter San José from Valencia. Villarreal have conceded just one draw, a 2-2 draw against the Valencians.

However, one of the greatest feats has been achieved by their counterparts in Alevín B (U11s). And it is the fact that the Groguets, first year players in the league, have won in League 1 second year against rivals of entity in the region such as CD Roda or Primer Toque. In fact, Alevín B (U11s) have only dropped points in one draw and one defeat in 18 games in this final phase of the season after qualifying.

For their part, the Benjamins (U9s and U10s) and Prebenjamins A and B (U7s and U8s) have also been proclaimed champions, completing a great season for Villarreal 8-a-side football, in which all their future stars have shone.

Women’s football is on a roll

Villarreal Women D, a newly created team in the club’s senior women’s structure, won their league last April well ahead of schedule and the young players achieved promotion to the Primera Regional, an important feat for the club’s training structure. The youngsters have won 24 of their 25 matches and are 12 points clear of second-placed Moncofa CF.

In addition, the Villarreal Girls Infantil-Cadete (U13s-U16s) won the season of the best teams in the qualifying phase. Mislata CF, CD Castellón, L’Eliana, Tavernes Blanques and Nuevo Burriana were the rivals of the groguetes in this second phase, in which they won with authority (nine wins and one defeat).

In this way, eleven teams have won league championships in the Yellows’ Academy this season, in which thousands of children and young people have continued to develop both personally and in terms of football.
