David Albelda highlights Villarreal B’s strong momentum and warns of the difficulty of the match against Marbella (Saturday, 4:15pm CEST)
Villarreal B head coach David Albelda spoke to V Play to analyse the build‑up to the reserve team’s next match, as they face Marbella FC on Saturday at 4:15pm CEST, in the fixture corresponding to Matchday 31 of Primera Federación.
“We arrive at the match with good feelings. We have improved a lot as a team over the past few months. We are in an optimal position and we look to the future with excitement. The match the other day against Sabadell was about giving continuity to what we’ve been doing. We are very motivated to be fighting for the play‑offs, even though we fully understand how difficult it is to stay there, but we are eager to see how far we can go,” explained Albelda ahead of the clash with the Marbella side.
Regarding the match, Albelda acknowledged that his team face a highly demanding challenge: “We know we are going to a tough ground. Marbella have picked up some very important home wins. It’s true that they are in a complicated situation. We, on the other hand, are in a good moment to approach the match with enthusiasm, but also with the necessary tension to compete and try to win it.”
Along these lines, the Valencian coach highlighted Marbella’s attacking options and strength from set pieces: “They strengthened their attack in the winter window. Now they play with two forwards. Two players who work very hard and have goals in them. In addition, they are a very strong team from set pieces. We must counter all those strengths and from there develop our own game. We want to have the ball and look towards the opposition goal.”
