The defender played his 100th game in yellow against Zenit Saint Petersburg
Álvaro González yesterday, against Zenit Saint Petersburg, reached his 100th official match wearing the Villarreal CF shirt in all competitions. Since he arrived at the club from RCD Espanyol in the 2016/17 season, the centre-back has played in 79 LaLiga matches, 14 in the UEFA Europa League and seven in the Copa del Rey.
Álvaro has become a key part of Javi Calleja’s side, thanks to his commitment, professionalism and good performances on the pitch. The defender from Potes has scored two goals for the Yellow Submarine, and has put on five assists for his team-mates.
Throughout his career, Álvaro has played 100 matches with Villarreal, 82 with Espanyol, 77 with Real Zaragoza and 38 with Racing Santandar, a total of 297 official games in professional football.
