Villarreal B come from behind to earn a point against Antequera
Villarreal B, who grew into the game as it went on, picked up a point (1-1) from Antequera’s visit to the Mini Estadi at the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground. The Yellows came from behind in the second half thanks to a well-deserved goal from Víctor Moreno.
The first half was lively and open, with the ball moving from end to end, but there were few clear chances. Unfortunately, the visitors from Málaga made the most of their only real opportunity. Ten minutes before the break, Njalla pounced on a loose ball in the box and fired home with a low, powerful shot to put Antequera ahead.
Despite creating more chances —two clear ones for Alassane and another for Budesca in a one-on-one with the keeper— David Albelda’s side were unlucky not to find the net before half-time.
The second half was just as energetic, but this time the Yellows did not let their chances slip. In the 72nd minute, after a great headed chance from Isma Sierra, Víctor Moreno collected the ball from the resulting corner, cut inside from the edge of the box and finished with a precise low strike to level the score.
The home side pushed for the winner. In the 78th minute, Alassane unleashed a powerful curling effort from the edge of the area, but Alcóver —the visitors’ standout player— denied him with a superb save.
Villarreal B’s next match will be away to Cartagena on Saturday 1st November at 6pm CET at the Estadio Cartagonova.
