The defender returned to playing an official game last Saturday during the win over Granada CF (0-3)
Alberto Moreno is smiling once more. The Andalusian defender left his injury behind and put on the Villarreal kit once more at the Nuevo Los Cármenes to play in the closing moments of the game against Granada CF (0-3).
In the 84th minute, he entered the game, replacing Manu Trigueros. The substitution by Unai Emery was welcomed with an ovation from his team-mates, who applauded the footballer after 221 days away from the pitch. It was recognition from the players and the coaches, who have seen him work daily to return after overcoming a serious cruciate ligament injury in his left knee.
Thanks to his hard work and dedication, he is now back in time for the most important part of the season, with the team fighting to play in European competition next season and also having all to play for in the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals against Dinamo Zagreb. Emery now has an important player back ahead of the Yellows’ exiting end to the campaign. Welcome back, Alberto!
