The Villarreal B head coach has highlighted the difficulty of facing an incredibly solid opponent on their home ground (Saturday, 4.00pm)
Villarreal B head coach David Albelda appeared this Friday before the media to analyse the upcoming match against SD Tarazona, corresponding to Matchday 12 of Group 2 in Primera Federación, which will be played this Saturday at 4pm at the Polideportivo Municipal de Tarazona.
The Valencian coach expressed his satisfaction after securing back-to-back wins against Cartagena and Atlético Sanluqueño: “I’m happy, but the season is very long. Winning these games gives us belief and helps us, but we have to keep going. Now we visit a very difficult ground, where they haven’t conceded a single goal in six matches. We’re motivated, but fully aware of how tough it will be.”
Along the same lines, Albelda highlighted how the recent victories have strengthened the team’s confidence: “It helps us believe in our ideas. We play an upbeat, high-pressing style, and doubts can creep in if results don’t come. Wins make you believe. With the players we have, we must be a proactive team that constantly looks to attack.”
Regarding SD Tarazona, the Villarreal B manager praised their experience and solidity: “They are a very experienced side in this division. They defend extremely well and can hurt you on set pieces. They are experts in second balls. They have kept many clean sheets, and if they go ahead, it’s very difficult to come back against them.”
For Albelda, the opponent’s strengths will not alter the game plan: “It will be the same. We’ll try to take the initiative, even on a difficult, smaller pitch. We want to maintain our style.”
Finally, the Villarreal B coach praised the excellent scoring form of Álex Rubio, the current top scorer in Primera Federación: “He’s an important player who arrived in the final days of the transfer window. He already had experience in the division, but he adapted very quickly. I think our style suits him. He’s on an incredible scoring run, similar to Etta Eyong last year. We’re very happy, but we cannot settle. We must keep going. Strikers have streaks — hopefully Álex can stay in this one.”
