Villarreal B head coach David Albelda spoke to the V Play microphone to analyse the build-up to the upcoming match against Marbella FC on Matchday 18 of Group II in the Primera Federación. The fixture will be played this Sunday at 6:45pm CEST at the Mini Estadi of the Ciudad Deportiva José Manuel Llaneza.
In his analysis, the Valencian coach underlined the threat posed by an experienced Marbella side whose results do not reflect their true level: “They are a team that has not done well in terms of results, but they have a lot of experience in the category. Results have not gone their way, but in every match they have played they have always had chances to win. I consider them to be a dangerous opponent”.
The Mini Submarine will begin 2026 by playing at home once again, after recording two consecutive draws away from home against Ibiza and Algeciras, both goalless, to close out 2025. Regarding the team’s situation, Albelda assessed recent performances and set out the immediate objectives: “We are happy with the team’s style of play, but we have to turn it into victories. Especially when you are superior to the opponent, as we have been. We were better than our rivals in the last two away matches, generating chances, but without finding the way to goal. We want to change that”.
Against Marbella, the Yellows coach expects a battle for possession: “It will be a match with different phases, but we have to take into account that they look to keep the ball a lot, and without it we can make them suffer. That is what we are aiming for. We want to play our game, have possession and generate tempo”.
