The Villarreal B head coach predicts a difficult, high-level match against Eldense (Wednesday, 6:30pm CEST)
Villarreal B head coach David Albelda spoke to V Play to preview the Mini Submarine’s upcoming clash against Eldense, corresponding to Matchday 24 of Group II in the Primera Federación. The fixture, previously postponed due to bad weather, will be played this Wednesday at 6:30pm CEST at the Mini Estadi of the Ciudad Deportiva José Manuel Llaneza.
Game plan against Eldense
“In general terms, I think it will be a similar match to the one in Murcia. They have a very experienced squad, of a higher level, but I believe that if we produce our best version, we will have our chances. They are one of the favourites for promotion to LaLiga Hypermotion. But we are playing at home, we have great respect for them, and we are focused on getting the job done, having our best day and trying to win the match.”
Postponed fixture and squad rotation
“We played our league match three days ago. They have had one more day of rest and we will see how that affects the 90 minutes. It forces us to make changes to the starting line-up and we will have to assess the alternatives we have in order to approach the game with the best guarantees.”
Season assessment
“So far, the progress has been positive, both individually and collectively, and we have been operating more in the top half than the bottom. But if you look at the table, everything is very tight. We have a completely renewed, very young squad. When you work with young players, you do not know how the team will evolve over the course of the season. Our idea is to look at these three or four matches we have ahead of us and, depending on those results, we will be able to make a clearer assessment.”
Mixed feelings after Murcia
“We are satisfied with the performance we delivered. We are left with the feeling that the most important thing is to convey our identity as a team and constantly look to attack the opposition goal. In the end, being clinical is something you have more on some days and less on others.”
