The Villarreal B coach highlights the importance of avoiding mistakes to compete at Cartagonova (Saturday, 6pm CET)
Villarreal B coach David Albelda spoke to the media ahead of the match against FC Cartagena, corresponding to Matchday 10 of Primera Federación, which will take place this Saturday at 6pm CET at Estadio Cartagonova.
He praised FC Cartagena’s level: “They are a team that hasn’t lost at home. They have scored 10 goals and work very well. They have a huge squad potential. They come from the Segunda División and have been lucky to start the season well. Although they are strong and in good form, I have confidence in our team. I believe we can compete and put in a good performance there.”
To get a positive result in Cartagena, Albelda stressed the need to avoid individual mistakes that can punish the team: “We want to compete, and competing involves many things. I especially think we need to avoid the individual errors that have cost us points week after week. We have to improve in that area, and of course also at a collective level, to prevent these kinds of situations.”
Finally, the Mini Submarine’s head coach regretted not having more points at this stage of the season, despite the team’s good performances: “We continue with the same pattern we’ve had all year. In terms of play, it’s going well and we know we can win anywhere. Regarding points, we don’t have as many as we’d like. The season is still early and we know it’s very long, but we would like to be in a more comfortable position. Looking at the calendar, you don’t see easy matches. The level is high and anyone can challenge you. At home, even when superior, we haven’t won as much as we’d have liked. Away, we have a points deficit. But if you analyse it closely, it’s reassuring to see that we’ve competed well in the four away games we’ve had.”
