Valencian coach describes the Andalusian side as an attacking, entertaining team (Saturday, 2pm CEST)
Villarreal B head coach David Albelda spoke to the media on Friday ahead of their Primera Federación Round 7 clash against Real Betis Deportivo, which will take place on Saturday at 2pm CEST at the Mini Estadi of the Ciudad Deportiva José Manuel Llaneza.
Albelda analysed the Yellow Submarine B’s next opponent: “They are a side in a similar vein to us. An attacking team that presses high. Like us, I think their youth has sometimes cost them results. They have dynamic, attacking players with an entertaining style. I expect a close game.”
The Valencian coach also emphasised that the Betis B team will not be an easy challenge: “Even though they haven’t won yet, I expect a very tough opponent. In addition to being dynamic, with direct wingers and a possession-based approach, they have a coach experienced in this division, who did great work at Antequera. He instils an entertaining, attractive style of play.”
On the key to victory, Albelda highlighted defensive improvements: “Offensively, our structure and work have been very good. But defensively we need to improve. We’ve conceded too many goals, mostly from set pieces. In the chaos of second balls, we lose our markers. We’re focusing a lot on this aspect to improve our results.”
Despite the challenges, Albelda confirmed the squad’s motivation and optimism ahead of the match: “We’re excited and motivated to beat Betis. We know the division is tough and we’d like more points, but we have a very young team and we need to grow defensively. There are things we’re doing well, but we haven’t achieved the points we hoped for.”
