The Submarine will travel to Vitoria in search of a win against the Babazorros and to keep their good form going (Friday, 9pm CET)
Villarreal visit Mendizorroza this Friday to face Deportivo Alavés (9pm CET) on Matchday 28 of LALIGA EA Sports, with the objective of taking all three points at a venue that has always been a major challenge for the Yellows.
The Submarine go into the match after a win against Elche CF (2-1), in which the Yellows produced an attractive display during the first half and managed to withstand the intensity and pressure of a rival in great need during the final stretch of the match. A victory that has allowed the team to stay strong in the battle for third place and take an important step forward in their bid to achieve, for the first time in the club’s history, two consecutive qualifications for Europe’s top competition.
In front of them will be an Alavés side that come into the match on a poor run of form after losing their last two games against Levante UD and Valencia CF. The Babazorros have changed manager. Now led by Quique Sánchez Flores, they once again face a team from the Region of Valencia as they search for three points to move away from the relegation zone.
Mendizorroza has always been a demanding ground for Villarreal. The fortress in Vitoria-Gasteiz has been a difficult place for the Yellows, who have not won there since the 2019/20 season. Since then, three defeats and one draw. The story is very different between the two teams in Vila-real. In the first-leg match played at the Estadio de la Cerámica (3-1), the Submarine secured a convincing victory thanks to goals from the Yellows’ dangermen, Alberto Moleiro, Gerard Moreno and Mikautadze.
In the overall record of the last five meetings between the two sides, the balance stands at two wins for the Submarine, two draws and one victory for Alavés. These precedents reflect the equality of a duel that will once again put both the Yellow and Babazorro sides to the test in a demanding setting.
