Villarreal CF travel to the Coliseum, a stadium where they are unbeaten in the last six visits (Sunday, 2pm CEST)
Villarreal CF return to league action after the international break. The Submarine travel to the capital to face Getafe CF, for Matchday 29 of the 2024/25 LALIGA EA Sports season. The match will take place at the Coliseum on Sunday at 2pm CET.
Marcelino’s side face the match after an undeserved and narrow defeat against one of the best teams in the league, Real Madrid (1-2), second in the table, while Bordalás’ side are coming into the game in a sweet moment. The side from Madfrid achieved their ninth win of the season against CA Osasuna (1-2) in their last match, and have also tasted victory in three of their last five games.
With the visit to the Coliseum, the Submarine return to a ground where they haven’t lost since the 17/18 season. Since that year, the Groguets have three wins and three draws to their name. All of this is in addition to the great away campaign the Yellows have been enjoying. Villarreal CF are the third best team away from home in the league. Getafe CF, meanwhile, are the sixth worst home team in LALIGA EA Sports. Of their 14 games played at the Estadio Coliseum, they have only won four times. The most recent, however, came against the giants Atlético de Madrid in their last home game (2-1).
In terms of precedents, the last match between the two sides ended in a draw. Santi Comesaña, on a pass from Thierno Barry, gave the Yellows the lead on the stroke of half-time. The Blue and Whites equalised from the penalty spot in the 87th minute.
There are currently two players in the Getafe CF squad who have played for the Yellows this season. Juan Bernat and Ramon Terrats arrived at the Blue and Whites in the recent winter transfer window. The latter is on loan.
