Marcelino stressed that Villarreal must show their best version and respect the opponent in order to secure a win at the Ciutat de València (Sunday, 6:30pm CET)
The Villarreal CF head coach, Marcelino García Toral, appeared on Friday—prior to the first team’s training session—in the press room to analyse the build-up to the upcoming match against Levante UD, corresponding to Matchday 16 of LALIGA EA Sports, which will be played this Sunday at 6:30pm CET at the Ciutat de València.
During his press conference, Marcelino highlighted that his team must quickly refocus on league action and show their best possible version against Levante in order to secure a win at the Ciutat de València: “We want to go for our seventh consecutive league win and, to do that, we must find our best level. The numbers show we are a very efficient team and we must continue with that work. We always go out with the intention of showing our best version. The attitude of the players is unquestionable. Now, against Levante, we need to be more decisive and precise in both boxes. Our opponents won’t give us anything for free.”
Along the same lines, he warned about the danger posed by the Valencian side: “They need this victory because they are in a tough situation. In Pamplona, they went out to win. Now they have changed their coaching staff. They play with a similar system, but with variations in attack. We have to show our best level and it won’t be easy. They haven’t won at home yet, but they’ve played fewer matches there. We must take that into account.”
Marcelino also emphasised the importance of approaching the game with maximum motivation: “We are not going to relax. We are going to approach the match with full motivation. It’s very important that we do so. We have to seek that maximum motivation.”
