Martínez believes the B team have showed how competitive they are and must trust in their possibilities
Villarreal B team striker, Carlos Martínez, stressed today that, despite the team’s irregular start, the Reserves have showed they are hardworking and competitive, so they should keep believing. “We’re just missing that bit of luck. We’ve lost two matches in the 90th minute when we’d played well enough to get more points. We know that the season has just started and so we have to stay calm, there are still many points to play for. It’s very harsh to lose in the last minute, but we’ve only played three games and the team is completely new. We have to believe in ourselves because we have a lot of potential. We want to win every match by competing at every ground we go to. After that we’ll see where we get. I’m sure the team will move up now”.
In fact, the Barcelona native explained that he thinks the Mini Submarine played to a high level, but they need to win more convincingly. “We’re playing to a high level with regard to keeping possession of the ball, but we’re missing that conviction, both in defence and attack. We’ve let in four goals from set plays and we must fix that. We’re just lacking conviction in some areas, which is fundamental in this league”.
To finish, Carlos Martínez said that the Villarreal B team’s next rival, CE Sabadell (Sunday, 12pm CET, Mini Estadi), are tough but the Yellows can’t afford to drop points at home. “Sabadell have six points from nine and that’s difficult to do in a league like the Second Division. They’ve formed a strong team and will make things difficult for us, but we have to impose ourselves on them and make our home ground a fortress”.
