Villarreal B defeat Lleida Esportiu and increase their lead at the top of the table
Villarreal B came out victorious against Lleida Esportiu at the Mini Estadi at the Villarreal CF Training Ground (Ciudad Deportiva) in a great match by the Yellows’ Reserves. The Mini Submarine goals came from Mario González (2) and Fran Álvarez. The game saw the teams in first and second in Segunda División B Group 3 face each other, with the win meaning Villarreal B can move further ahead at the top of the table.
Miguel Álvarez’s side got ahead on the scoreboard early on. It was just the fourth minute when Adrián Riera played in a corner that González sent on its way to the back of the net, with a right-footed effort that flew in at the near post. Golazo (1-0)!
Lleida were able to draw level with half an hour on the clock. Mousa Bandeh crossed low from the right wing and Juanda fired at goal. It was saved by Diego Fuoli, but the rebound fell to the former Yellows Academy player, who didn’t waste his second chance (1-1, m. 30).
The match was living up to the hype and spectators truly enjoyed a great game on the Mini Estadi pitch. In the second half, Villarreal B killed it off, with Iván Martín the stand-out man.
The talented midfielder was the player to step up and make two assists. First of all, he took charge of a killer counter-attack, playing it out left for Álvarez, who had just come on, to make it 2-1, with a right-footed effort that skimmed the post. Soon later, the goal to make it 3-1 came. Once more, Martín played a great pass through to González, before the sharpshooter scored with a striker that the Lleida Esportiu goalkeeper got a hand to, but was unable to keep it out.
