Villarreal Women get a draw against Alhama CF thanks to a goal from Aixa Salvador
Villarreal Women did not have an easy challenge ahead of them as they visited Alhama CF, current leaders of the Primera RFEF. Moreover, the Murcia side boasted an unbeaten record and had not conceded a single goal going into the game. However, Virginia García’s side were not intimidated and managed to take a very important point thanks to a goal from Aixa Salvador.
The Murcian side were responsible for the first dangerous move of the game with a cross from Belén Martínez – a former Yellows player, along with Estefa Lima, Sara Medina, Raquel Pinel and Elena de Toro – which ended up in the hands of Carmen Carbonell. Raissa had the home side’s second chance with a long-range shot, but it went wide.
From that point onwards, the visitors were able to control the ball more, creating several dangerous chances through Lauris, Alexia Jr. and Aixa Salvador. However, despite constant attempts, they were unable to find the net.
In the second half, Virginia García’s side got off to the best possible start. It was the 51st minute when Aixa scored and put the yellow team ahead (0-1). After this goal, the Murcian team pushed forward and were more aggressive in attack, even putting Villarreal Women in some trouble from set pieces. In fact, that’s how the Murcian team scored thanks to Raquel Pinel (1-1, min. 76). A goal that meant that the Yellows put all their efforts in the defensive facet in the remaining minutes to avoid conceding another goal and to be able to take a very important point in a difficult ground to visit.
Villarreal Women’s next match will be on Sunday 6th October, at 12pm CEST, against AEM at the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground.
