Villarreal B earn three important points at the Mini Estadi thanks to goals from Víctor Valverde and Facu Viveros
Villarreal B earned a well-deserved and hard-earned victory against Hércules CF (2-1), in a duel marked by intensity, physical exertion and a goal in the final minutes that gave Miguel Álvarez’s side a boost.
The match started at a high tempo for the Mini Submarine, who sought to control the ball from the very first minute. In fact, it didn’t take long for the chances to come and, in the 12th minute, Víctor Valverde opened the scoring with a powerful shot from the edge of the area, impossible for the away goalkeeper to stop (1-0).
Hércules tried to react, but they came up against a very solid Mini Submarine in defence. In turn, the Yellows continued to attack with intensity. In the 34th minute, a strategic move sowed chaos in the visitors’ box, but with no luck. Just a few minutes later, Valverde came close to scoring a second goal with a great shot that crashed against the crossbar.
After the break, Miguel Álvarez’s men had to make a real effort and resilience exercise, because in the 69th minute, the Alicante side equalised through Coscia (1-1). And so, thanks to the Mini Submarine’s fightback, encouraged by their fans, Facu Viveros came on in the 87th minute.
Alassane laid the ball off to Víctor Moreno, whose shot was blocked by the goalkeeper. The rebound fell to Facu Viveros, who made it 2-1, which was enough for Villarreal B to take three vital points in their fight for survival.
