Student Andrea Maldonado will take part in the UNIRAID rally, which will take place in Morocco for the ninth year in a row
Former Villarreal player, and current Institutional Relations department member, Marcos Senna, and CEU Cardenal Herrera University director in Castellón, José María Mira de Orduña, this morning, handed over a cheque for 1,100 Euros to CEU student Andrea Maldonado for her participation in UNIRAID, the charity rally for university students, which is taking place in Morocco for the ninth consecutive year.
The CEU student will, alongside her brother Carlos, on 15th February start this human and charity adventure, which, throughout seven stages, the youngsters need to cross Morocco, using the atlas and going through a number of obstacles, to end up handing out 40 kilogram of charity material to the towns in the Erg Chebbi desert.
The money comes from the sale of tickets given by the club
The money donated by the CEU for the participation of these two youngsters in UNIRAID comes from the sale of tickets to two LaLiga matches at the Estadio de la Cerámica, which the club lent to the university with the aim of raising funds of social actions with an impulse from the university community. It is fundraising which was made possible due to a number of teachers, students and staff from the campus in Castellón, who joined the charity scheme by getting these tickets at a special price.
Collaborating within the Aula Universitaria Endavant project
This social collaboration initiative is part of the Aula Universitaria Endavant project, a pioneering scheme led by Villarreal CF and the CEU, which integrates the reality of a top-flight club, with the formative, practical and scientific programmes of the university.
Third piece of support
Up to now, the Yellows and the CEU have used their charity cheques for two initiatives: the participation of a group of Nursing teachers and students in a humanitarian mission to Ghana alongside NGO Youcanyolé and to the CEU UCH’s Pixel Project, to help proposals for patients within the province of Castellón.
