The team and fans celebrated Champions League qualification in style
Villarreal CF and their supporters celebrated in style after sealing qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
From the very first minute, the atmosphere at the Estadio de la Cerámica was electric. The fans were eager to enjoy the moment, and 20,000 yellow flags waved in the stands to kick off the celebrations, which continued on the pitch as the Yellow Submarine defeated Sevilla FC thanks to goals from Yeremy Pino, Pape Gueye (2) and Álex Baena.
After the final whistle, the Villarreal players took a lap of honour around the pitch, going stand by stand to thank the fans for their unwavering loyalty and support throughout the season. It was a moment to celebrate Champions League qualification together!
President Fernando Roig, head coach Marcelino García Toral and two of the standout players this season, Ayoze Pérez and Álex Baena, also addressed the crowd on behalf of the squad. The emotions continued to rise with a tribute to captain and club legend Raúl Albiol, who shared heartfelt words with the Yellow Submarine faithful.
With emotions running high, the Champions League anthem rang out around the stadium, accompanied by a video montage of Villarreal’s past adventures in Europe’s elite competition. The evening concluded with one last dance to La morocha – the song that has soundtracked Villarreal’s final stretch of the campaign – this time accompanied by a special message from its singer, Luck Ra.
As a fitting finale to an unforgettable celebration, a spectacular firework display lit up La Cerámica. See you next season, Groguets!
