The Submarine finishes third in the triangular tournament in Hong Kong

Villarreal played, as part of the LFP World Challenge project, the triangular tournament against Hong Kong Rangers and Valencia in the Mong Kok Stadium, which has been a veritable feast for everyone. The three teams offered a good show for the fans with three exciting games of 45 minutes each, where they could enjoy every ingredient of football: goals, beautiful football, and amazing technical skills.

At the end, Villarreal had to settle for the third place after drawing against the home team Hong Kong Rangers (1-1) and then losing against Valencia (1-0). Although Villarreal and Rangers got the same results in the two games, the local team scored against Valencia, thus they have one more point than our yellows.

In the first match, Villarreal and Valencia raised an open and attractive game from the beginning. The ball was moving from one box to the other at a fast pace, and soon the Submarine enjoyed its first chances through Nahuel, Pereira and Musacchio. However, the Valencians would eventually win the game. In the 22th minute, Alcácer was brought down by Galas, converted the resulting penalty and Valencia were able to keep their advantage against 10 men through to the end.

In the second game of the tournament, the Submarine took the lead at the very beginning. After a brilliant move of Moi, Pablo González entered the area and scored the first goal thanks to a great shot. Villarreal were clearly dominating the game, but Hong Kong Rangers were able to maintain their pressure and intensity. In the 25th minute, the local side equalized through Lam, who scored a great goal after a beautiful heel. The Yellows kept on trying and Joan Roman almost scored another goal after a nice individual move, but the score did not move.
