Villarreal B cruise to a convincing win over Algeciras in an outstanding team performance from David Albelda’s side
Villarreal B comfortably beat Algeciras at the Mini Estadi (4-0) in a match where the Yellows operated like a perfectly oiled machine in every department to secure three valuable points, with a brace from Gaitán and goals from Albert García and Etienne Eto’o. With the win, David Albelda’s side remain in the play-off places.
The match had barely kicked off when it swung in Villarreal B’s favour. In the 2nd minute, Nizar made a surging run into the box, dribbling past several defenders in a superb individual move before being brought down. Albert García reacted quickest to the loose ball and slotted home to make it 1-0.
Following the opening goal, the visitors tried to respond and created a couple of good chances, but Villarreal B stayed compact and organised to keep a clean sheet.
The second goal came just two minutes after the restart. Nizar attacked down the flank and, after a shot from a tight angle, the ball fell to Gaitán, who produced a brilliant touch to shift it onto his other foot before finishing first time past the visiting goalkeeper.
Ten minutes later, in the 57th minute, Eto’o made it three by finishing with great composure in a one-on-one after a superb through ball from Albert García. There was still time for one more. In the 67th minute, following a fine attacking move, Albert García delivered a cross into the box that Hugo López cleverly dummied, allowing Gaitán to score his second of the match with ease.
Villarreal B’s next match will be on Sunday 19th April against Alcorcón (4pm) at the Estadio de Santo Domingo in Matchday 33 of Primera Federación Group II.
