The Valencian head coach analyses the Mini Submarine’s upcoming match against Algeciras CF (Sunday, 12pm)
Villarreal B head coach David Albelda spoke to V Play to analyse the Mini Submarine’s upcoming match against Algeciras CF, corresponding to Matchday 32 of Primera Federación, which will be played this Sunday at 12pm at the Mini Estadi at the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground.
The Mini Submarine head coach stated that the team arrive for the match in a positive run of form, while also stressing the difficulty of the division: “The team are doing well. The wins and our position in the table mean you look to the future in a positive way, but that cannot hide the difficulty of the category. We are approaching the match with a lot of focus and thinking about putting in a good performance in order to win.”
David Albelda also acknowledged that, with only a few games remaining, the team are not ruling out aiming higher: “As a B team, we have never wanted to speak about clear objectives, especially at the start. The number one objective is the development of the players, and I think that has been achieved. But now there are seven matchdays left, we are in a very good position and this is the moment not to give up on trying to reach the play-offs.”
Speaking about the opposition, the Yellow head coach warned of their strengths: “It will be a very difficult match against a direct rival in the table, with important players for the category. Offensively they have goals, pace out wide with good one‑on‑one ability and experienced defenders. Physically they are strong too, especially from set pieces. Every week is extremely difficult, but we are confident thanks to the results and our current position.”
Finally, the Valencian coach underlined the importance of maintaining the team’s identity: “Our strength lies in imposing our style. We want a high tempo at home, not to speculate with the result and to try to go and win. We have to stay on the path we are on, because that is what is bringing us results.”
