Villarreal Women, despite taking the lead through Marta Querol, take a point from a match in which they deserved more
Villarreal Women drew against CE Europa (1-1) in a match in which the Yellows created more chances and deserved a greater reward, but were unable to find the finishing touch. Despite taking the lead through Marta Querol, the Catalan side levelled the match barely two minutes later.
The match began with an early warning from CE Europa when Ari Márquez tried her luck with a shot that Montse Quesada saved. The Yellow response did not take long, as in the 14th minute Alexia Jr had a very clear chance, but her effort went just wide. Barely two minutes later, Cienfu came close to scoring with a shot that went very near the top corner. Without a doubt, Jordi Ferriols’ side were pushing to win the match.
Just before the break, the Yellows had another chance through Aixa Salvador, but once again they lacked accuracy. The match reached half-time with the score at 0-0.
After the interval, Villarreal Women found their reward very quickly. In the 48th minute, Nerea Pérez sent a great cross into the box and Marta Querol finished from close range to make it 0-1. However, the joy did not last long. Barely two minutes later, the Catalan side equalised with a header from Núria Ferrer after a cross from the wing (1-1).
Far from letting their heads drop, the Yellows took the initiative again, creating several chances to take the win: Lauris, María Macías and María Romero all went close. Three very clear shots that ended up hitting the crossbar or in the hands of the Catalan goalkeeper. As such, the score did not change and Villarreal Women were only able to take a point from a match in which they deserved more.
