The Asturian head coach expects a top-level match against Real Sociedad (Friday, 9pm CET)
Villarreal CF head coach Marcelino García Toral appeared before the media this Wednesday to analyse the build-up to the match against Real Sociedad, corresponding to Matchday 29 of LALIGA EA Sports, which will be played this Friday at 9pm CET at the Estadio de la Cerámica.
The Asturian head coach warned of the high level of the San Sebastián side: “They are a team that make you very uncomfortable and press you a lot. They have footballers at their best level, such as Guedes or Oyarzabal. What’s more, at the back they have gained solidity and they have a great goalkeeper. Their transitions are very precise and quick, and that makes them very competitive. So we need to be at a very high level to win and we are aware of that.”
The Yellow Submarine head coach also explained the difficulty of imposing their style of play: “Keeping the ball will be complicated because their approach forces you to make constant decisions. We have to defend very quickly and very well, above all because of their transitions and their ability to score goals on the counterattack.”
Marcelino also stressed the importance of being strong at home: “We are playing at our ground and we hope to win. Hopefully there is a big attendance because it is an attractive match and we need their support to get the three points. We are in a privileged position and we want to maintain it. We know that if we win, we will move up to third again.”
Finally, the Yellow head coach underlined that solidity at the Estadio de la Cerámica will be key to achieving their objectives: “To be at the top it is essential to be strong at home. We have five matches left at home and we have to try to win them all, but always with the mentality of going game by game. Now we have to focus on Real Sociedad and afterwards we will think about the next one.”
