The Yellow Submarine will compete for a third year running in the tournament with a million-dollar prize
Villarreal CF will return to The Soccer Tournament (TST), the fun, high-stakes competition held in Cary (North Carolina, US) from 27th May to 1st June. The Yellows will once more compete for the one-million-dollar prize in the men’s section of the 7-a-side tournament.
TST features teams from all over the world, with teams such as Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan, Atlético de Madrid, West Ham United and Club América taking part in previous years.
Last year, Villarreal, coached by César Arzo, and with legends such as Giuseppe Rossi, Xisco Nadal, Sergio Asenjo and Mateo Musacchio playing, reached the knockout stage, after finishing first in their group. They were eliminated by eventual winners Bumpy Pitch FC.
This year, American football legend Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson will be part of the Villarreal squad, with the Miami-born wide receiver wanting to show his love for Spanish football. The rest of the squad will be confirmed in the coming weeks ahead of the tournament.
Just like last year, The club will also be hosting nine clinics for youngsters attending the tournament, with up to 100 spaces in each session. One player will be picked to have an unforgettable experience in Spain, a week training like a pro with Villarreal CF youth academy teams.
