Villarreal B beat Marbella thanks to goals from Albert García, Álex Rubio and Budesca
Villarreal B recorded their first win of 2026 as Marbella visited the Mini Estadi, running out 3-1 winners. The Yellow Submarine, with goals from Albert García, Álex Rubio and Budesca, saw off the Andalusian side inside the opening 25 minutes thanks to a spectacular first half display. After the break, the match became more complicated following Cheikh’s dismissal, but David Albelda’s side stayed organised, pushed forward when possible and withstood the visitors’ reaction to secure all three points.
The goals came early and caught Marbella by surprise. In the fifth minute, when both teams were still settling into the game, Albert García took advantage of a defensive lapse and a superb pass from deep by Cheikh to fire past the Marbella goalkeeper and make it 1-0.
Barely ten minutes later, Eneko drove down the left flank and delivered a low, accurate pass that Álex Rubio met ahead of his marker, finishing with a delightful touch of quality to score the second for David Albelda’s men.
And before the half hour mark, the reserves were already 3-0 up. Following a fine team move, Víctor Moreno played a low cross into the box, Albert García cleverly let it run to deceive the defence and Budesca arrived at pace to net the third for the hosts.
It did not stop there. With every spell of possession, another chance followed for the Mini Submarine, who were getting into the Marbella penalty area with remarkable ease. Víctor Moreno, Gaitán and Albert García all went close as the Yellow Submarine created chance after chance against a Marbella side that struggled to get out of their own half.
The second half, although well managed by the hosts, was slightly overshadowed by Cheikh’s straight red card, which reduced Villarreal B to ten men. The numerical advantage allowed Marbella to push for a response and they did manage to pull a goal back to make it 3-1, but the three points were never in doubt and stayed at home.
