The yellow reserves created clear chances against Nàstic and even hit the woodwork twice
A point that could easily have been three. Villarreal B deserved much more against Gimnàstic de Tarragona in a match in which the yellow reserves dominated and created several clear goalscoring chances. Two of them came back off the woodwork.
Villarreal B were completely on top in the first half and enjoyed as many as four very clear opportunities to score.
The first chance fell to Álex Rubio, who broke free at pace after a flick on from Viveros. His effort from the right side of the box hit the side netting (m.12).
Just three minutes later came J. Gaitán’s chance. The skilful winger took on his marker on the left, cut inside and fired a powerful strike that came back off the left post (m.15).
The pressure from the Mini Submarine was relentless. Viveros then tried his luck with a powerful effort from inside the area which forced Rebollo into a fine save (m.25). Ten minutes before the break, Gaitán had another great chance and once again struck the woodwork. He controlled inside the area with everything in his favour but sent his shot against the crossbar. Real misfortune (m.36).
The second half was more balanced. The Catalan side started to push forward and David Albelda made changes from the bench in search of all three points. The scoreline would not change.
Villarreal B will play their next match against Juventud Torremolinos on Sunday 30th November.
