The Yellows’ attacking player has highlighted his good personal form and stressed that his current focus is the upcoming league challenge against Mallorca
Alberto Moleiro spoke to the media on Wednesday in the press room at the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground, where he reflected on both his personal development and Villarreal CF’s situation in the domestic competition.
He spoke positively about how he is feeling: “I feel really good, very comfortable. I have improved little by little in terms of my football. At the start, adapting was a bit difficult because I had never left the islands before, but now I feel good and I will keep working.”
Moleiro also took the opportunity to express his gratitude to Villarreal CF: “Villarreal is a very family-oriented club. From the moment I arrived, they made everything very easy for me. I feel at home. I’m really happy to be here. In addition, both Sergi Cardona and Ayoze Pérez helped me to settle in.”
Regarding his football development, Moleiro explained the change in his role compared to his time at Las Palmas: “Here, I’m more direct and vertical, with the intention of causing damage. At Las Palmas, I focused more on playing beautifully or playing well, and here I’ve changed that approach. I know I have to move forward with the ball.”
Reflecting on Villarreal’s attacking play, he highlighted his connection with Gerard Moreno and the threat they create together: “It’s true that right now we’re in a position where the offensive play goes through our side. I feel very comfortable there, and I think I can cause damage receiving the ball and moving forward. Always with that mentality, looking for the goal. I’m still hungry. I think I can do more and I have room to improve, and I hope to show that.”
He also admitted he hadn’t realised he was currently the team’s top scorer: “I didn’t know I was the team’s top scorer, because it’s not something I think about. Last year I scored six goals. This year I’ll try to surpass that, which will mean I’m progressing.”
Looking ahead to Villarreal CF’s upcoming fixtures, Moleiro emphasised that the most important match is this weekend against RCD Mallorca: “The team is in a good place and very focused on Saturday’s game. From Saturday onwards, we don’t talk about anything else in the dressing room. We know the importance of what’s coming, but our mind is on Saturday.”
Finally, he praised the team’s strength at home: “We are a very united squad. We know our qualities and how to take advantage of them. At home, we’re also doing very well because the fans help us a lot. We are eager to get points on Saturday.”
