A strong Villarreal Women side fall at Paterna in stoppage time (1-0)
Villarreal Women were defeated in their visit to Valencia (1-0) in a match where the Yellow Submarine showed discipline and fight, but unfortunately saw their chances of taking points vanish in the dying moments of the game.
The first half was tightly contested but with few clear opportunities. Both teams stayed compact, looking for errors, and Jordi Ferriols’ side came close in the 9th minute when Sara Medina fired just wide. Aixa and Medina had further chances, but the score remained 0-0 at the break.
The second half followed the same pattern: intense battles for control of the game, but very few chances for either side. Just when it seemed the match would end in a draw, Marcano capitalised in the dying moments to inflict a cruel 1-0 defeat on the Submarino.
Villarreal Women will next face Real Madrid B on Saturday, 22nd November at the Ciudad Deportiva José Manuel Llaneza (4pm CET) in the 11th round of the competition.
