The Villarreal Femenino head coach analyses the difficulty of the upcoming derby against Valencia CF (Saturday, 6.00pm)
Villarreal Femenino head coach Jordi Ferriols spoke to the media this Friday to analyse the current situation of the Yellow Submarine ahead of Saturday’s match at 6.00pm against Valencia CF at the Antonio Puchades Stadium.
To begin with, Jordi Ferriols highlighted the good form of the team after last weekend’s draw against Cacereño (1-1): “We’re good. We’re coming from a demanding match, but it helped us recharge. It was a physical game, but the team is ready to play tomorrow against Valencia.”
Regarding the opponents, the Vila-real-born coach underlined the balance of the match and the similarity in both teams’ playing styles: “It will be a very tough match. They play in a similar way to us, although they have a deeper squad and are more vertical in transitions. It will be a competitive game. We’ve already faced each other twice this year, in the Copa de la Reina and in pre-season. We know each other well. We’re ready for whatever may happen and we trust our work.”
Ferriols also highlighted the difficulty of playing at the Antonio Puchades Stadium: “It’s a difficult ground. They’re also very used to the surface. They have strong arguments to compete.”
Lastly, the Villarreal Femenino manager stressed the importance of the match, while making it clear that it won’t be decisive: “I don’t think it’s a decisive match because we’re only in matchday 10, although it’s true that just one point separates us. Right now, we’re ahead. We want to win to extend the gap, but if it doesn’t happen, nothing changes. We’ll be ready because this is a long-distance race.”
