The Villarreal Women’s head coach warns that the match against Cacereño will be very physical (Saturday, 4pm CET)
Villarreal Women’s head coach, Jordi Ferriols, spoke to the media this Friday to discuss the latest news about his team ahead of Saturday’s clash against Cacereño at 4pm CET on Pitch 5 at the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground.
The coach praised his team’s impressive performance following their win in Ibaia against Deportivo Alavés: “It was a great match. A victory like that, against a team that hadn’t lost yet, gives you strength. It reinforces our message. We know there’s still a long way to go, but we’re on the right path.”
Reflecting on the team’s positive momentum, Ferriols highlighted the collective effort: “It’s all thanks to the hard work of the players and the coaching staff. We know there are still things we can improve, but we’re clearly very happy.”
Regarding their next opponents, Cacereño, Ferriols warned about their physicality and stressed the importance of not underestimating them despite their position in the standings: “They’re a tough side. They play at a high tempo, win duels, and are very physical. We can’t get drawn into that kind of game. We need to be strong with the ball and support each other defensively. Last year they played in the promotion playoffs, so they’ll come out to compete, but so will we. We’ll be ready to try to win at home.”
Finally, the Villarreal-born coach outlined the keys to securing another win: “Defensively, we need to stay solid, intense, and united — that’s something that defines us. And with the ball, we need to be ourselves: brave, in control, and dominant if we want to win the match.”
