The former Yellow Submarine footballer and 2024 Ballon d’Or winner unveiled his plaque on Villarreal CF’s Walk of Fame
Rodrigo Hernández is now officially a Villarreal CF legend. The former Yellow Submarine footballer and 2024 Ballon d’Or winner was honoured by the club at the Estadio de la Cerámica with his inclusion in the Passeig Groc, Villarreal CF’s Walk of Fame.
The Spanish midfielder, a product of the Yellows Academy, took part in the ceremony to unveil his plaque on the Passeig Groc, located at the Estadio de la Cerámica. His image now joins those of other iconic figures and moments in the club’s history, such as José Manuel Llaneza, Santi Cazorla, Bruno Soriano, the team that lifted the Europa League, the side that achieved the first promotion to the Second Division, and the centenary of the current Estadio de la Cerámica.

A tribute on the pitch at the Estadio de la Cerámica
Before the match against Manchester City, Rodrigo Hernández received Villarreal CF’s Gold Badge from the club’s president, Fernando Roig. In that special moment, the Yellows fans took the opportunity to give a heartfelt and well-deserved ovation to their former player in recognition of his 2024 Ballon d’Or triumph and his legacy as both a Villarreal footballer and academy graduate, perfectly embodying the values of the Yellow Submarine.
