Villarreal B claim a brilliant win thanks to a stunning display from Álex Rubio, who scored three goals
Villarreal B earned a brilliant and much-needed win over Betis Deportivo (4-1) in a match where the Yellows were superior from start to finish. David Albelda’s side, led by a stellar Álex Rubio performance capped off with a hat-trick, controlled the game throughout to take three crucial points.
It was a flawless first half from Albelda’s men. After first holding off the intensity of a Betis Deportivo side in need of points, they showed great control of the tempo and created plenty of danger going forward.
In the tenth minute, a superb set-piece move from the Yellows ended with a delightful backheel from Viveros that opened up space for his teammates, and Valou made no mistake from close range.
The visitors tried to react after the Mini Submarine’s opener, but first the defence and then an excellent Rubén Gómez prevented any Andalusian attempts to level the score.
Two minutes before the break, Álex Rubio began his show. The striker made it 2-0 with what will surely be one of the goals of the matchday, taking advantage of a poor clearance from the Betis goalkeeper to unleash a stunning strike from over 25 metres out – a true work of art.
In the 59th minute, Rubio headed home a fine cross from Víctor Moreno, and five minutes from time he pounced on another Betis mistake to complete his hat-trick and seal the win for a Villarreal B side who were superior from start to finish.
