The Catalan goalkeeper has reflected on the team’s strong start to the season and shared his positive feelings about his situation at the club
Arnau Tenas spoke to the media on Wednesday in the press room at the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground, where he discussed Villarreal CF’s current form, his personal situation and the team’s objectives for the season.
The international break
“It’s good to rest from time to time. Physical recovery is important, but so is mental rest. We’ve just come from a very demanding match, but we’re ready for whatever comes when the competition resumes.”
Strong league start
“I’ve always trusted my team. I know the level we have. The team is doing what it needs to do, and now we want to keep adding more points. We have a squad that can compete against anyone, and we’re prepared for any challenge.”
The goalkeeping situation
“From my point of view, I’m handling it very well. From day one, I’ve had a great relationship with both Luiz Júnior and Diego Conde. We get on really well. We’re a great group of goalkeepers and the competition between us is healthy. Personally, I’m ready for whenever the coach needs me.”
Personal assessment
“I feel really good. I have a strong, open personality. I like to communicate with my teammates at all times, and everyone made things easy for me from the very start. I feel comfortable and confident.”
Three matches played so far
“I feel the same as always: calm and confident. It doesn’t matter whether I play at the Bernabéu or anywhere else. I’m focused on doing my job and giving my best to help the team pick up three points.”
Villarreal CF
“I was told great things about the club, and from day one I’ve felt right at home. It’s a very family-oriented club and I’m very comfortable here. I can talk to anyone at the club — it feels like I’ve known them forever. I hope to be here for many years.”
An exciting season
“It’s a very exciting season. Our aim is to stay near the top and return to the Champions League. Our goal is to win every match. We’ll take things game by game, whatever the competition, and adapt to each one. The team is ready for everything.”
