A goal from Alexia Jr gave Villarreal Women victory over Real Oviedo and secured their third consecutive league win
Villarreal Women continue their strong run in the Primera Federación. After defeating CE Europa and CA Osasuna, the Yellows earned a narrow 1-0 victory over Real Oviedo thanks to a goal from Alexia Jr in the 70th minute.
Jordi Ferriols’ side took to the pitch determined to claim all three points, although they lacked accuracy in the final third. The match tilted further in Villarreal’s favour in the 21st minute, when Real Oviedo were reduced to ten players after Marina brought down Sara Medina.
Following that incident, the Yellows kept pushing for the opener, but Aixa Salvador’s efforts went unrewarded. For the visitors, former Villarreal player Vera Rico had a chance to beat Montse Quesada, but couldn’t find the net. The match went into half-time with the score still level at 0-0.
After the break, the Yellows continued their attacking dominance and were finally rewarded in the 70th minute. A perfect cross from Nerea found Alexia Jr, who finished clinically to make it 1-0 and seal Villarreal’s third consecutive league win.
Villarreal Women’s next match will be on Saturday 11th October, at 6pm CEST against AEM.
