The Villarreal Women head coach previews the upcoming away match against the Navarrese side (Saturday, 1pm CEST)
Villarreal Women head coach Jordi Ferriols spoke to the media this Friday to preview his team’s next fixture, which will take place this Saturday at 1pm CEST against CA Osasuna at the Tajonar Training Ground.
Team status
“The team is doing very well. We are keeping the same momentum. It is true that I repeat myself compared to last week, but we are very happy. I think we have everything very clear and we need to keep working.”
On the win against CE Europa
“I think we saw a mix of the team without the ball, which competed well against Betis, and the team with the ball, which competed against Albacete and Atlético de Madrid. That mix I spoke about before the game helped us to get the three points against Europa.”
Season so far
“Step by step, improving. We started the season with a defeat, then a draw, and now a win. We will try to keep following the winning line or at least get close to it. Now we play away at Osasuna, and the goal is to pick up points there and then become strong at home. If we continue with this momentum, we will be in a good position for sure.”
Aixa Salvador
“Aixa is in great form, just like the rest of our forwards. We trust in all of them. We also know how important the players coming off the bench are. I don’t think about starters, I think about the different moments of the match. I think about what can happen in the first half and what scenarios we might face in the second. Aixa, for example, came off the bench against Betis and scored, and then started against Europa and scored twice. In the end, it is important to be aware that the players coming from the bench have been making a difference too, either by changing a game or helping us keep a result in the second half.”
The opponent: CA Osasuna
“It is always very difficult to play away at Osasuna. They are a very intense team with very clear ideas. They put you under pressure with crosses into the box and overload the area, and they are very strong in transitions. We need to be ready to play a very solid game without the ball, and with the ball we must make them adapt to us and avoid getting dragged into their direct style. We have to respect our own qualities and aim to play a good match.”
