An Aixa Salvador goal deep into added time earned Villarreal Women a valuable point against Real Betis
The side led by Jordi Ferriols had several clear chances throughout the clash but had to wait until the dying moments to see their efforts rewarded, with Aixa Salvador striking in the 95th minute.
The match was intense from the outset. In fact, just four minutes in, Lauris had the ball in the net for Villarreal, but the goal was disallowed for offside.
The home side then took the lead in the 26th minute, when Yasmine Zouhir controlled the ball inside the area and fired past Montse Quesada.
In the second half, Villarreal Women continued to push. Gigi went close to equalising in the 53rd minute, but her header from a corner crashed against the post.
The substitutions brought fresh energy, and one of them proved decisive. Aixa Salvador struck in the 95th minute, sparking joy on the away bench and sealing a well-deserved point.
Villarreal Women’s next fixture is at home to Europa on Saturday 20th September at 4pm CEST.
