The Villarreal B head coach highlights the team’s positive feelings ahead of the clash with the Catalan side (Saturday, 4:15pm CEST)
Villarreal B manager David Albelda spoke to the media ahead of his team’s upcoming fixture against CE Europa, which will take place this Saturday at 16.15h at the Mini Estadi, José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground.
During his press conference, the Valencian coach underlined the challenge of the game: “CE Europa are a tough opponent. They’ve just been promoted to Primera Federación from a very difficult group. They have a solid foundation and a very well-defined playing style, having worked under their coach for a long time. We go into the match confident because we’re at home, but fully aware of the difficulty of the rival.”
Looking at what his team needs to do to win, Albelda stressed the importance of control and intensity:
“We want a lively, high-tempo match in which we control possession and make the most of it. We need to stay true to ourselves and to the work we’ve been putting in, which has already been visible in the first two matchdays.”
The Villarreal B boss also emphasised the team’s good work so far: “In the first month of competition, especially for a B team, the sensations are more important than the results. In that sense, we’re happy and confident with the work being done because the feelings are good, and that gives us security to stick to our path.”
Along the same lines, Albelda pointed out that the Mini Submarino deserved more against Eldense (1-0): “The team is excited and motivated. We come into the match with good feelings despite the defeat in Elda. We performed well and even had chances to win the game. We feel we are competitive, and tomorrow we want to keep that identity.”
