The Yellow Submarine host Oviedo in search of their first-ever home victory in a LALIGA opener
Villarreal CF are ready to kick off a new LALIGA EA Sports campaign. The Yellows will host Real Oviedo this Friday, 15th August, at 9pm CEST at the Estadio de la Cerámica.
Beyond the excitement of seeing the team in action, the new signings, and the early impressions, this fixture presents a key statistical opportunity: breaking a run of unfavourable season openers.
Since the 1998/99 season, when Villarreal earned their first promotion to the top flight, the team has never managed to win their opening LALIGA match when playing at home.
In fact, across their last ten league openers, the Yellow Submarine have picked up just one win—a 0-3 away victory over Real Valladolid in the 2022/23 season at the José Zorrilla. That record also includes six draws and three defeats, highlighting the challenges Villarreal have faced in starting the season on the right foot.
