Thousands of young footballers shine in a record-breaking edition of Villarreal CF’s summer tournament
The Villarreal Yellow Cup Summer 2025 has come to a close after four unforgettable days of excitement, football, and international camaraderie in Vila-real. The iconic tournament, organised by Villarreal CF, has once again proven why it is one of the premier youth football events on the international calendar.
This edition saw over 2,500 young players, representing 172 teams from 12 countries and nearly every region of Spain, showcase their talent on the pitch. With more than 500 matches played between 26th and 29th June, the competition was marked by intensity, sportsmanship and a high level of football.
The grand opening ceremony, held at the Estadio de la Cerámica, kicked off the tournament in spectacular fashion, as teams paraded through the home of the Yellow Submarine in a colourful and emotional display. The atmosphere remained electric throughout the tournament, with over 20,000 fans cheering from the stands across the various venues.
Football, passion and global connection
Beyond the pitch, the Yellow Cup Summer provided a truly enriching cultural and social experience. Teams from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, the Philippines, Israel, and more, shared unforgettable moments with clubs from across Spain. Friendship, respect and the core values of sport were on full display throughout every corner of the tournament.
The finals, played on Sunday and broadcast live on the official Villarreal CF Campus and Tournaments YouTube channel, delivered thrilling matches and high-quality football. Champions in the ten age categories were honoured during a heartfelt closing ceremony, which brought this extraordinary edition to a fitting and emotional end. (Add list of champions)
