The defender from Castellón rejoins Villarreal Women to strengthen the back line
Villarreal CF have reached an agreement with Albeta, who will play for Villarreal Women in the 2025/26 season. The defender from Almazora joins as a free agent after spending last season with CD Alba Fundación Femenino.
A homegrown defender
Alba María ‘Albeta’ López Montiel (14 August 2001, Almazora, Castellón) begins her second spell at Villarreal CF. The defender came through the Yellows Academy, progressing through all youth categories from Alevín to the first team. Albeta was part of the side that achieved the historic promotion to the top flight in the 2020/21 season and made her Liga F debut in the 2022/23 campaign.
After two seasons away from Vila-real — one with CE Europa and another with CD Alba Fundación — Albeta returns to the club where she grew up to bring strength and tactical intelligence to the defence. The Castellón-born player also has the ability to join the attack and is known for her excellent left foot, with which she delivers dangerous balls and assists her team-mates.
