The Yellows lose against Brown Ballers but still lead Group G
Villarreal were defeated by Brown Ballers in their third TST match (0-2). However, they went into Day 2 of TST knowing that after an impressive start with two victories from two, they were already top of the group. They came up against a Brown Ballers side who had lost their two games and were already out of the tournament.
Villarreal made changes to the the team, putting Estevan Vazquez in goal, instead of Sergio Asenjo, as well as bringing other players into the starting line-up,
The first half was an endless stream of Villarreal chances. Xisco Nadal, Robin Walsh and Adrià Granell all had chances to open the scoring, but at half-time it was still 0-0, with the Brown Ballers goalkeeper making save after save.
The second carried on the same way, with more pressure from the Yellows. It looked like they would take the lead when Granell was fouled in the box in the 37th minute. He stepped up to take the penalty kick, but goalkeeper Nathan Beckett kept it out.
Brown Ballers went down the other end and in a counter scored the opener through Aarush Kamath (0-1, m.38).
Villarreal thought they had the equaliser before the start of Target Score Time, but the referee blew his whistle for end of regulation time just before Sergi Añó’s header found the back of the net. It stayed 0-1 and the Target Score was set at 2.
Villarreal continued to have control of the ball, but in Target Score Time, failed to create any clear chances. The best fell to Moises Hernandez, but his free-kick was off target.
After an error in defence, Rubyn Gill capitalised to score the winner and give Brown Ballers the win (0-2).
