The Girona-born defender is the full-back with the most assists in LALIGA and Villarreal’s most-used player in 2024/25
Sergi Cardona has exceeded all expectations. In his first season as a Groguet, the Catalan full-back has been a key player for Marcelino García Toral’s side, who achieved the long-awaited and exciting goal of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League.
Wearing the No.23 shirt, Cardona provided seven assists, making him the full-back with the most assists in LALIGA EA Sports. Yeremy (2), Baena (2), Barry, Ayoze and Comesaña all found the net thanks to his pinpoint deliveries from the left flank.
As if that were not enough, Cardona also scored in Villarreal’s thrilling and dramatic home win over RC Celta (4-3).
A mainstay for Marcelino
Sergi Cardona was the most-used player in Villarreal’s squad this season, racking up 3,000 minutes across LALIGA and the Copa del Rey. He also made the most starts under Marcelino, featuring in the starting XI 34 times during the 2024/25 campaign.
