The Yellows will travel to Bilbao for the final stage of the most extraordinary competition in football (30th and 31st May and 1st June)
LALIGA Genuine reaches its conclusion in Bilbao this weekend with the final stage of Spain’s most inclusive tournament, taking place at Lezama Training Ground from 30th May to 1st June. Villarreal EDI (team with intellectual disabilities) will make the trip to the Basque Country to play their final three matches of the season against the hosts, Athletic Club Fundazioa (Friday at 11am, Pitch 1), Fundación Club Atlético de Madrid (Saturday at 6:30pm, Pitch 2) and Real Sociedad (Sunday at 10:30am, Pitch 1).
A grand finale for LALIGA Genuine
After the first three phases of the competition, the Yellows sit fourth in the Compañerismo Group. The José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground was one of two venues for the third stage of the tournament, where the Submarine secured two crucial wins on home soil that gave the squad a real boost ahead of this final stretch. The players were already singing “We’re off to Bilbao” with great excitement after their impressive results.
Now, the Submarine will be looking to pick up three more victories as they await the outcome of the teams above them in the table. No matter the final results, the joy of the game and the values of sport will once again take centre stage in the last round of Spain’s most inclusive competition.
The following players have been called up for this special final phase in Bilbao: Adrián Centelles, Ismael Montiel, Javier Ruiz, Eric Villegas, José Gonzalbo, José Manuel Vicent, Iván Mengual, Marc Gimeno, Miguel Ángel Archela, Francisco Pinel, David García, David Pliego, Óscar Conesa, Iván Centelles, Juan Víctor, Andrés Sanchez and Juan Ramón Lara. The team will be coached by Ana Roig, Sonia Alcón, Rafael Julián and Marta Cádiz.
Villarreal CF, a LALIGA Genuine ever-present
Villarreal CF was one of the founding clubs of LALIGA Genuine and also its very first host, staging the opening phase of the competition’s inaugural edition at the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground in October 2017. The Yellows’ facilities also hosted the final stage in the 2022/23 season and were once again a venue in this season’s third phase.
