The coach brings an end to his successful spell in charge of Villarreal B
Villarreal CF and Miguel Álvarez are parting ways after a brilliant and successful eight-year spell at the helm of the Mini Submarine, during which he guided Villarreal B to a historic promotion to LaLiga SmartBank in the 2021/22 season.
The club would like to thank him for his hard work and dedication throughout his time as a coach in the Yellows Academy, as well as for his unwavering commitment to passing on Villarreal CF’s values to the club’s young players.
A remarkable legacy in the Yellows Academy
He took charge of a total of 291 matches with the Mini Submarine, leading the team for two seasons in the second tier, contesting four promotion play-offs and playing a key role in the development of some of the most talented players to come through the Yellows Academy.
During his time in charge of the B team, a total of 41 academy players made their first-team debut. Among them were Spain internationals such as Álex Baena, Yeremy Pino and Pau Torres, along with other top players including Samu Chukwueze, Nico Jackson and Filip Jorgensen.
Thanks for everything and good luck in the future, Miguel. Always a Yellow!
