Marcelino García congratulated his team for their great performance against Real Sociedad, despite the controversial refereeing decisions
Villarreal head coach, Marcelino García Toral, spoke to the media after the match against Real Sociedad to analyse the controversial 2-2 draw.
“We put in an extraordinary performance and we deserved to win, but sometimes there are things you can’t control,” said the Yellows’ head coach, satisfied with his players’ effort, despite the controversial decisions of Cuadra Fernández, the referee of the match.
“We not only deserved to win, but to win comfortably. We scored five goals. We had three disallowed. I’m not the one to assess the referee’s performance. That’s up to the referee. I just want to talk about my team’s performance, which was fantastic,” said the coach.
Likewise, he head coach lamented the dynamic of consecutive games without a win at the Estadio de la Cerámica: “If you can’t win, you draw. I don’t know what’s wrong with us at this ground. We haven’t won the last four games. We scored two goals, but there could have been more. I’ll take the work of the players and the superiority over Real. We also have to remember what their goals were like. It’s not usual to see two goals like that in the same game. I would be completely satisfied if we had won because we deserved it. But we didn’t and it’s time to move on.”
