Villarreal CF have paid for the reconstruction of the facilities, destroyed by flooding, in collaboration with ‘Alcem-se Esport’
Villarreal CF led the re-inauguration of the municipal pitch in Catarroja. The sports facility has been restored, after being severely affected by the flooding in Valencia, thanks to the donation of €2 million made by the yellow club to the ‘Alcem-se Esport’ programme of the Fundación Trinidad Alfonso.
Villarreal ambassador, Marcos Senna, and footballer Kiko Femenía attended the emotional ceremony, which was presided over by the town’s mayor, Lorena Silvent, on the pitch of the refurbished pitch.
Fourth pitch restored thanks to Villarreal CF’s economic donation
The municipal pitch in Catarroja is the fourth of the five pitches restored with a donation from Villarreal CF after the facilities at La Torre, Beniparrell and Encrucijadas in Aldaia. Thanks to the decisive work and effective performance of the Fundación Trinidad Alfonso, the Polideportivo Joan Girbés in Algemesí, which is in the process of reconstruction, will also return to normality in the coming weeks.
Alcem-se Esport
The ‘Alcem-se Esport’ programme is the aid plan for sports clubs affected by the flooding in Valencia promoted by Juan Roig’s sports patronage and channelled through the Fundación Trinidad Alfonso and Valencia Basket Club.
After the catastrophe brought about by the flooding at the end of October, more than 350 sports clubs from different sporting disciplines need help to return to normality. Villarreal CF decided to make a contribution of two million euros to the plan presented by the Fundación Trinidad Alfonso and Valencia Basket.
