The B team went ahead with an Etta Eyong goal from the penalty spot, but were unable to stay ahead
Villarreal B suffered a painful 2-1 defeat against Alcorcón. The Yellows took the lead thanks to a penalty from Etta Eyong, but the team from Madrid came from behind thanks to goals from Aparicio, also from the penalty spot, and Rayco, in stoppage time of the second half.
Miguel Álvarez’s team went into the game on a positive run, after two consecutive victories.
The B team wore their away kit for this match because of a colour clash with Alcorcón. In light blue, Villarreal B looked to get three points once more.
The Mini Submarine had to battle hard in the early stages. In fact, Alcorcón came close to scoring twice. First, Hugo Pérez saved Vladys‘ goal in front of goal, while shortly afterwards it was Rubén Gómez who made a great save from Vladys’ own header.
Villarreal B struck hard in their first dangerous approach. Etta Eyong skilfully scrambled into the box and was brought down by Rentero. It was a clear penalty. The striker stepped up to take the penalty himself (0-1, m.35). It was Etta Eyong’s 16th goal of the season. Outstanding.
In the second half, Alcorcón also equalised from the penalty spot. Viveros committed a foul inside the box and Aparicio converted the penalty (1-1, m. 68).
The team from Madrid pressed in search of a 2-1 lead. That’s when Rubén Gómez came on and made some fine saves. What the B team goalkeeper could not prevent was Rayco’s goal in stoppage time from a corner. A cruel end to the game.
Villarreal B’s next game will be at the Mini Estadi against Fuenlabrada on Saturday 29th March (4pm CET).
