The Villarreal B head coach has highlighted the Mini Submarine’s good form after two consecutive victories
Villarreal B head coach, Miguel Álvarez, appeared before the media this Friday to analyse the match against AD Alcorcón, on Matchday 29 of the 2024/25 Primera RFEF season, which will be kick-off this Sunday, at 3:30pm CET, at the Estadio Santo Domingo.
He was satisfied with his team’s good form, with two consecutive wins in Primera RFEF: “When you win, you’re always happy. The other day we saw some very interesting things. Mérida were one of the highest scoring teams in the division and they did very little against us. The players off the bench also added a lot. The substitutes were excellent.”
The Mini Submarine are now facing the challenge of trying to secure a third consecutive win. “It would be great because they are direct rivals. Now we have Alcorcón, Fuenlabrada and Algeciras coming up and we want to keep winning. If you have continuity in winning and the league table isn’t punishing you, you always do things much better. It gives you credibility and confidence in what you are doing,” said the head coach.
Regarding the opponents, Miguel Álvarez praised their strength at home and their ability to compete: “They lost 1-0, but they competed very well. It’s a team I like because they have a lot of projection. Up front they have an array of weapons. At the beginning they were punished for small details, but the players have grown up in the division and that makes them a very difficult team to play against. They are also strong at home. They’ve taken a lot of points there.”
Finally, the Villarreal B coach underlined the importance of getting a win against Alcorcón as they are direct rivals: “We managed to win the head-to-head record against Mérida. Now we have a six-pointer again. It’s very important to win every week in this league.”
