Virginia has warned of the importance of the match against an opponent she knows perfectly well
Villarreal Women head coach, Virginia García, appeared before the media in the press room of the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground to analyse their next opponents, Atlético Madrid B, who they will face tomorrow, Saturday, from 1pm CET, on Pitch 5 at the Yellows’ training ground.
These were the most important statements made by the Yellows’ head coach:
Situation of the team
“We are in a difficult situation. We don’t get victories and that’s why people may think that we’re not working well, but that’s not the case. We’re doing a good job, even though it’s not reflected in the results. We are confident in the work we are doing and we mustn’t look for excuses, but keep working.”
Confidence, an important weapon in football
“When you see that you do things the right way and you don’t get the results you expect, your confidence is diminished. Football is not all about tactics or technique, it’s also mental. It’s a job for everyone. When one fails, we all fail. The same goes for accuracy. We want to make as few mistakes as possible and not get penalised. We want to keep working and, from there, we want to improve our results.”
A win to get back on track
“Winning would be important on a mental level. We’ve had good games in which we haven’t managed to score despite playing well. We need to avoid doubts and give the girls confidence and a good result would certainly do that.”
The opponent and the game they are expecting
“They are a very strong B team. They are a team I know well. They are intense, they win duels and they demand a lot of concentration from you. They have the confidence that results have been going their way lately. We’re approaching the game as an important one and that’s why we want to endorse our work with a good result.”
